The World According to Renee

Thankyou Disney, for providing life-long childhoods.

Guinea pigs are saving the world in this animated/live action tale. A company has designed kitchen appliances to communicate with each other, only an infiltrator has designed the appliances to take over the world, forcing humans to live underground.

Enter G-Force, specially trained guinea pigs and a mole. They’re trying to become Special Agents, but funnily enough, the FBI thinks it’s a huge joke. Darwin, Juarez, Blaster and tag-along Hurley band together to stop the worldwide destruction (think Skynet, but blenders and microwaves) and have their Special Agent dream come true.

Disney have done a fantastic job blending animation and live action into a seamless film. Unfortunately, the movie is let down by lack of clever wit used in so many of today’s kids flicks. Instead, it relies on fart jokes to capture the young ones’ giggles. Still, it’s an enjoyable romp with a rockin’ soundtrack: Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga.

But remember kiddies: just because guinea pigs are darn cute and lovable, doesn’t mean you should run out and buy one. Do your research first. Me, on the other hand, am totally allowed to rush out and buy one- I had them as pets when I was a kid so I already am responsible and know how to care for them!

Two and a half stars/five.
